The Placement Cell was formed in 2014 separately as per the recommendation of NAAC PEER Team with a motto to envisage the students for future career orientation. Before that the Cell was working in association with the Career Counselling Cell. Dr. Sudipa Pandit, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, is the Convener and the other members include :
- Dr. Pradipta Mukherjee, Assistant Professor, Department of English
- Dr. Srobonti Chattopadhyay, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics
- Mr. Amit Mahato,Assistant Professor , Department of Zoology
- Mr. Mihir Dam, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics
2015 - Off Campus placement
The first interview of the students through the Placement Cell was off campus, with a private financial consultancy firm, “Value You”, located in Kolkata. The interview was conducted in their office where altogether eight Third-year students from VCFW appeared. Two members of the Placement Cell, Mihir Dam and Srobonti Chattopadhyay accompanied the students to the venue of the interview. However, though five students were selected, none of them accepted the offer as they found the terms and conditions unsuitable.
2016 - On campus placement
In 2016, the Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) conducted a campus placement programme in the VCFW College Campus. There had been three rounds. Almost a hundred students appeared in the first round, out of which total 18 of students qualified for the final round and finally 16 students were selected by TCS. The students joined the job after completion of graduation. The starting salary was Rs. 10, 500/- + allowances.
I) Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) will conduct campus interviews in January 2017 for final year students.
II) Techno Vision will conduct campus recruitment in January 2017 for final year students.
Placement Cell is also trying to invite other corporate bodies and banks for conducting placement programmes in the College campus. Since the College has courses in Journalism and Mass Communications and Film Studies, the Placement Cell is also making an effort to invite some media houses so that students of the College can also get placed in these areas. The Placement Cell makes constant endeavour for the better future of the students.
