The department was founded in the year 2018 with Anusree Chakraborty and ShouvonikBala as coordinators. At present the department has one full time teacher (SACT) and ten other teachers from different departments who support the regular teaching activities. The department celebrated World Environment Day by hosting a one-day webinar on Eco-restoration and Environmental awareness in crisis management on 5th of June, 2021, by inviting two eminent speakers from the field of environment. The seminar was organised with the ardent cooperation of IQAC and green club which also supports in promoting active awareness in building a responsibility towards our environment. The process of teaching is mainly interactive and action oriented where students engage in a project or field work that enables a deeper understanding of the discipline and they take keen interest in further studies.
